RIM Co-CEO Jim Balsillie Confirms OS 6.1 to be called OS 7

Just the other day we heard the rumor that BlackBerry OS 6.1 would be changed to OS 7, theory was this would be so since it would be such a larger change from OS 6. Today during the Q&A Investors Call, RIM co-CEO Jim Balsillie has confirmed that they’re changing it to OS 7. His reasons are that ‘OS 7′ includes liquid graphics, magnetometer, and more, which drastically separates it from OS 6, and therefore .1 away is far too small. They concluded that BlackBerry World should be very interesting and that attendees will not be let down

How to backup data on a BlackBerry PlayBook

1. In the BlackBerry Desktop Software, click Device > Back up.
2. Do one of the following:
   1. To back up all your device data, click Full.
   2. To back up all your device data except for Media, click Quick.
   3. To select which types of device data to back up, click Custom. Select the check box next to the data you want to back up.
3. Do any of the following:
   1. To change the default name for the backup file, in the File name field, type a new name.
   2. To encrypt your data, select the Encrypt backup file check box. Type a password.
   3. To save your settings so that you are not prompted to set these options again when you back up your device, selectDon't ask for these settings again check box.
4. Click Back up.

BlackBerry Desktop Manager updated to v6.0.2.44 (PlayBook Support)

RIM released and update to BlackBerry Desktop Manager, we now have another one available to all you Windows users out there. If you open up desktop manager now you'll be prompted to go ahead and update to v6.0.2.44. No full change log is currently available but it is however noted that it's related to the BlackBerry PlayBook. Sadly, Mac users do not (as of yet) have any updates available to them but - it is coming. In the meantime, if you're a Windows users you'll want to grab the latest to ensure all is well.
